I LOVE that horse riders song. Great dance-y track. Cracks me up every time I hear it.
Sorry, I think its the nadir of his songs….but..
Different strokes, I guess. I would say the nadir was Ebony & Ivory. I can’t listen to much of Paul’s 80’s work — too commercial, too predictable, too formulaic.
This track is just a bit of demented fun. His big mistake in 1980 was not continuing down in the vein of McCartney II. Instead Paul followed John (and his Double Fantasy album) down the path of adult-contemporary mush. I’d much rather have more Temporary Secretary, Check My Machine, Secret Friend, and this horse riders track than more Ebony & Ivory, Pipes of Peace, and the like.
Thank goodness Paul’s work started getting interesting again in the 90s. He’s been on a strong run since then.
Louise…Temporary Secretary??? Really? Like you said, different strokes! Peace.
Absolutely!
Temporary Secretary is a fabulous track, much lauded by the electronic music hipsters nowadays and years ahead of its time.
Yes, Temporary Secretary is a winner in my book!
agree, T S is way cool. McC II is so underated. Also how good is “On The Way”. beautiful guitar work . Love how Paul turns a minor chord into a major on the final searing note.
The ultimate TS is on ‘Twin Freaks’, the vinyl only Wings remix album, ala The Beatles ‘LOVE’ album, deffo in my top ten Macca releases ‘EVAH’.
I have that album “Twin Freaks”
