You’re totally right about the airbrushing (at least it seems to make sense)! It also looks like George probably had a ciggie in his left hand. I don’t know why those photos get airbrushed … they smoked! People have to just deal with it.
No Guus and stephenmcg are both correct – this was taken on 11 July 1964 in Teddington when the Beatles arrived to pre-record ABC-TV’s Thank Your Lucky Stars. (It was transmitted on Saturday, 18 July). Normally TYLS was pre-taped on a Sunday in either the ABC studios in Birmingham or Teddington, Middlesex. Because there was an ITV strike going on at the time they had to do this particular shoot on a Saturday – which meant getting up early after the A Hard Day’s Night premiere and party in Liverpool and be flown back to London and then on to Teddington via boat. They arrived in the same fashion for the Big Night Out show at the same studio on 23 February ’64 so it’s easy to get them confused.
The Netherlands?
No Ringos there-en route to TYLS ??!
Also is it airbrushed..should Paul have a cigarette in those fingers!

On their ‘way’ to the ‘Thank You Lucky Stars” recording.

23 FEB 1964 ON THEIR WAY DOWN THE THAMES TO ABC TV, TEDDINGTON STUDIO CENTRE TO RECORD “BIG NIGHT OUT”.
