We didn’t like the Summer crowds too much… They were over excited and loud, and the boys would rush into the studios as fast as they could. Of course I can now understand their excitement at seeing them in person for the first time, but just to give you an idea, the only familiar faces in this photo are John and Mal. None of us “regulars” in sight!

I can just hear Mal: “Coming through, coming through, Jesus is coming through.”

I often marvel at the dedication of the ‘regulars’ …. their experiences must be incredible! I could easily have seen myself standing in front of the studios waiting for a glimpse of “the boys”. I admire the ‘scruffs’ because they respected the band and never seemed to be pushy or rude and that’s what it truly means to be a fan. I’d love to read the stories about what went on during that time. please share your memories with us!

Hi Ishie, my book is almost ready, I am working really hard on it right now. One of my Apple Scruff friends has started to write about our group and I will be helping her. And I want to write other books about the many people from several parts of the world that I met there and have photos and stories to tell. Just be patient, you will have great stories to read and fab photos to look at, I promise! As I said before, I am on a mission here. We are all getting old, many fans I knew have died, and we need to leave these things for future generations to enjoy. What most people don’t realize is that the Scruffs only existed after 1969, and the BEST time to be a “regular” was 1967 – my humble opinion!

    Hi Lizzie,
I look forward to reading all of your wonderful stories. I must admit to really enjoying the Carol Bedford book but I have since heard that not all of the book is true (for example John throwing bricks through Paul’s window). Nonetheless, some great photos like the one above.

If you kept a diary it would be really great if you could post what days you were at the studio/Apple etc so we could place it into some context of what they were doing that day as per Mark Lewisohn’s “Chronicle” book.

Anything to help us date all these polaroid shots!

    Best wishes.
