This pic is doing my head in. 50% of my brain is saying this has to date from about 1978-ish, the other 50% thinks this looks like Hamburg. Discuss please.

The mustache looks real, so it’s either 1967 or 1974 or 1975?
I think we all know this is “Mr. Campbell.”
Probably the first mustache’s first showing

Africa 1966?.
1966 Denver Passport Picture
His passport picture was similar but different and with different glasses.
Ahh..could this be it? I still think he looks younger than ’66 but maybe it was during his trip to France.
McCartney donned his disguise after passing through French customs. Wig Creations, the film cosmetic company used by The Beatles on A Hard Day’s Night, had made him a moustache to wear.
They measure you and match the colour of your hair, so it was like a genuine moustache with real glue. And I had a couple of pairs of glasses made with clear lenses, which just made me look a bit different. I put a long blue overcoat on and slicked my hair back with Vaseline and just wandered around and of course nobody recognised me at all. It was good, it was quite liberating for me.

Going with the France/Africa late ’66 trip
it has to be before the moped accident, since there’s no scar on his upper lip? Err, mystery.
Paul did this photo during his visit in France in Nov 1966, exactly in Calais. It comes from the Rose Martin Collection
THIS BLOG IS AMAZING!!! I thought that photo was from 1967. I didn’t realize the fake mustache thing. Thanks so much everyone, I learnt something new today!
It’s amazing how much it looks like his real mustache. Also how much it looks like me from when I was the same age (except the ears).
This man will grow up to need a temporary secretary.
Hang on, so if it’s November 66, then this mustache is real, and isn’t the fake one?.
It’s all very odd, we can’t really see the moped scar can we?.
That’s definitely the moped lip.
There is nothing more prone to lens distortion
than the suture job on Paul’s upper lip.
A shoemaker could have done a better job.

I don’t see his lip scar. When was the mopped accident? Also, if this is from 1966, was his hair (especially his bangs) ever that short in 1966?
Paul’s hair was extremely short during his trip to Africa in ’66, he had his ‘stache there then. Ironic in that both he & John had their hair severely chopped off at around the same time
The scar is there. It’s a fine line.
George had the chop too. Tach and new hair for his trip to India
