Here we are with the first posting of John in 1980 photographs, from now until December i’ll be posting groups of photo’s of John and Yoko in 1980. I understand that some people look upon that time frame as a very sad one, and i understand that, i guess i’m fortunate as i’ve only ever looked upon, and experienced that era as a joyous and wonderfull time. It was when we had John back with us, working and creating at a dizzying pace. It’s the only time i ‘had’ John as a fan, as he’d already retired by the time i got into the Beatles in 1975, so each second of John in 1980 is precious to me, i look upon this time .. right up to 10.48pm on December the 8th as a time of joy. When i visited the Dakota a few years ago people asked ‘Wasn’t it sad?, wasn’t it creepy?’ and in all honesty no, the thought of the tragedy crossed my mind, and then left .. i remembered and focused on the happy times John spent there, and all the times he walked in and out of the place living and enjoying life, so if you’re wondering, that’s why i’m celebrating John in 1980.
